Solon is a perfect 9-0 against Shaker Heights since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Comets are taking a road trip to take on the Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Solon's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Stow-Munroe Falls. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
Not much got past Grace Gerhard, who gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Stow-Munroe Falls off the board. Gerhard has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Gerome, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Bush, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Shaker Heights came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 23-2 victory. The Red Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by ten runs or more this season.
Scout Harvey was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Harvey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emerson Miller was a standout: she got on base in all six of her plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one double. Melanie Fogerty also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Shaker Heights kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Shaker Heights pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.9 runs over those games. As for Solon, their record now sits at 6-13.
Everything went Solon's way against Shaker Heights when the teams last played back in April of 2019, as Solon made off with a 20-0 win. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
