Chinle had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Ganado on Saturday. The Wildcats blew past the Hornets 17-5. Considering the Wildcats have won ten contests by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Mackaden Arthur made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Chinle's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jakobe Nastacio, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Duane Ayze was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Chinle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in four consecutive games.
Chinle is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Ganado, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.
As of now, neither Chinle nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
