Make it 15 blowout wins for the Cesar Chavez Champions this season. Everything went their way against Tolleson on Thursday as Cesar Chavez made off with a 42-20 victory. The squad ran away with 38 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
Cesar Chavez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lakeisha Robinson led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Sophia Doromal, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Cesar Chavez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Tolleson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cesar Chavez will challenge the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for West Point: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while the Champions have snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Tolleson, they will square off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Gila Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
