Baseball Recap: Elkhart Takes a Loss

Elkhart played against Westwood on Tuesday and lost via forfeit.

Cole Horton put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Horton wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Those two hits gave Jones a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Elkhart and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Westwood, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-10.

Elkhart has already played their next game, an 8-3 win against Mexia on the 14th. As for Westwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 17-3 loss against Groesbeck on the 14th.
