Washington extended the longest winning streak in Greater Dakota this week by beating Stevens, 62-3. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Warriors.
Spearfish suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after besting Belle Fourche. The Spartans had been ranked 24th, but fell to 26.
Washington's dynamic duo of Jon Hander and Zac Lupica proved tough for the Raiders to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hander threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns and Lupica had 43 yards receiving. Grant Larson helped Washington's passing attack out by catching one ball for 33 yards.
Caden Quintanillia was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 180 yards as Lincoln topped Stevens. Connor Burchill also contributed to the rushing game with 64 yards on the ground.
The Warriors' Hander and Nathan Gerry have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hander has thrown for 1307 yards this season, while Gerry, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 19 catches for 524 yards. The Patriots' Quintanillia leads the league in rushing yards with 909.
The marquee game in Greater Dakota this week will be the clash between Lincoln and O'Gorman. Aaron Beavers' team comes into the matchup ranked 10th in the state, while the Knights ranks 17th.
The Patriots' Quintanillia needs only 91 yards against O'Gorman next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Washington and Roosevelt meet this week. The Warriors features well-regarded defensive back Gerry while the Rough Riders has Grant Schmidt, a sought after sophomore.
Washington took down Paul Ferdinand's team 62-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hander ran for 16 yards in the win.
