Warren County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Weldon Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, Warren County didn't even let KIPP P onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Warren County has scored all year.
Meanwhile, Weldon's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They came out on top against North Edgecombe by a score of 47-40. The win was just what Weldon needed coming off of a 65-44 defeat in their prior contest.
Weldon can attribute much of their success to Kamya Coles, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Shaelyn Johnson, who scored 13 points along with five steals. Johnson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Warren County's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Weldon, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Warren County came up short against Weldon in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 49-40. Can Warren County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
