After both having extra time off, the De Beque Dragons and the North Park Wildcats will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses for De Beque and 11 for North Park.
Last Wednesday, De Beque came up short against Vail Mountain and fell 3-1.
De Beque couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Vail Mountain a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 31-29, 23-25, 25-12, 25-11.
Meanwhile, North Park came up short against Soroco on Friday, falling 3-0.
The match was exciting from start to finish, as two sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-22, 26-24.
De Beque will have to keep a close watch on Aubrey Baugh and Brooklynn Weber, a pair of players who had a big impact on North Park's prior game. Baugh had 11 digs and one assist, while Weber had ten digs and two assists.
De Beque's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for North Park, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-12.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: De Beque has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.4 aces per game. However, it's not like North Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
