The Wharton Tigers will take on the Harmony School of Innovation Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Wharton had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but La Marque put an end to it on Friday. The Tigers had to suffer through a 36-6 loss at the hands of the Cougars. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Even if they lost, Wharton's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Anthony Hatchett refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Raelon Thompson was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Harmony School of Innovation was beaten by La Marque 74-12 two weeks ago. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1224th, while the Cougars are ranked 506th).
Wharton will have to contain Zubayr Greer as he made an impact in Harmony School of Innovation's last game. He threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Wharton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Harmony School of Innovation, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Wharton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 223.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Harmony School of Innovation, though, as they've been averaging only 54.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Wharton against Harmony School of Innovation in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured an 82-0 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
