Cloverdale has gone a perfect 3-0 against Upper Lake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 2:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cloverdale has five straight wins, Upper Lake has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Cloverdale's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lower Lake with a sharp 18-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Camryn Bird made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cloverdale got a massive performance out of Bella Sanchez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Camryn Donahoo was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Cloverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lower Lake only posted an OBP of .062.
Upper Lake played against Clear Lake on Thursday and lost via forfeit.
Cloverdale pushed their record up to 19-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Upper Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
Everything went Cloverdale's way against Upper Lake when the teams last played back in April, as Cloverdale made off with a 13-3 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
