The Taylor Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 76 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 84-76 to Crooms Academy. Taylor has not had much luck with Crooms Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Taylor still got an impressive performance from James Thomas, who scored 32 points. Thomas scored a full 42.1% of Taylor's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nikko Dozier, who scored 12 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crooms Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than D'Elio Cestero, who scored 26 points along with 7 rebounds. The matchup was Cestero's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrell Johnson, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Taylor's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Crooms Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Taylor is on the road again on Monday and play against Calvary Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th. Calvary Christian Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Crooms Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Orangewood Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Orangewood Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
