After a string of six wins, The Jacksonville Golden Eagles''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Oxford 36-7. The low total for Jacksonville limited their streak of high-flying scores to six in a row.
Despite the loss, Jacksonville had strong showings from KyDric Fisher, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Jim Ogle, who threw for 133 yards and a touchdown. Fisher has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more receiving yards the last three times he's played.
Oxford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Damious Wilson out in front who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydon Thomas, who rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown.
Jacksonville's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Oxford, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jacksonville has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Bayside Academy at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Bayside Academy will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Oxford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Athens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Athens is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
