The Trinity Christian Gryphons will venture away from home to square off against the Virginia Episcopal School Bishops at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Virginia Episcopal School will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Trinity Christian extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Gryphons never let Immanuel Christian get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory. That 25-run margin sets a new team best for the Gryphons this season.
Not much got past Evan Davis, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Immanuel Christian off the board.

At the plate, Trinity Christian got a massive performance out of Isaac Norman, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those six RBI gave Norman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Norman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and five RBI.
Trinity Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .780. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Virginia Episcopal School never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday. They blew past the Flames 16-1. With that win, the Bishops brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Campbell Howard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Virginia Episcopal School: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 2-4 otherwise. Howard was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lawrence Dempsey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those doubles were his first of the season. Jake Simms was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Trinity Christian's record is now 7-4. As for Virginia Episcopal School, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Trinity Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Virginia Episcopal School struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
