Baker hasn't had much luck against Paxton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Gators will host the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Baker made easy work of Red Level and carried off a 12-2 victory. Considering the Gators have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddox Smith was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Riley Renfro was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Baker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paxton). They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over Poplar Springs on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their two-run performance the game before.
Phillip Bearden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Bearden was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cade Stewart, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Colby Vaiyanet, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Paxton's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Baker, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Baker couldn't quite get it done against Paxton in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 5-2. Will the Gators have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
