North Catholic is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Carrick is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Trojans will host the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
North Catholic gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Obama Academy of International Studies as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The matchup marked the Trojans' most dominant win of the season so far.
Landon Roedler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Roedler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other pitching news, Caden Williams looked comfortable as he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Ryker Kennedy and Matthew Madonna did most of the damage at the plate: Kennedy scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Madonna scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Kennedy has posted since back in April of 2024. Adam Mashuda was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
North Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Carrick got themselves on the board against Perry Traditional Academy last Wednesday, but Perry Traditional Academy never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Commodores with a sharp 21-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Commodores: they've now won seven in a row.
Riley Mares made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Carrick got a massive performance out of Blake Andrews, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Luzay Watson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Carrick now has a winning record of 3-2. As for North Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
North Catholic took their win against Carrick in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
