Baseball Recap: Schroon Lake Takes a Loss

If Schroon Lake was riding high fresh off their 22-2 takedown of Wells on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Johnsburg Central Jaguars by a score of 11-9 on Monday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Schroon Lake saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Pelkey, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Pelkey is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Jayce Emmert also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Schroon Lake's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4. As for Johnsburg Central, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.

Schroon Lake didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-5 victory against Crown Point on the 30th. As for Johnsburg Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 20-1 win against Boquet Valley on the 30th.
