The Sargent Farmers entered their tilt with the Cotopaxi Pirates with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Sargent came out on top against Cotopaxi by a score of 51-38 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Sargent, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Sargent got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kandace Pargin out in front who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Pargin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Angelise Sandoval was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Despite the defeat, Cotopaxi saw an underclassman step up: Hayden Eggleston scored 19 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eggleston has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Allisyn Gasseling, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Cotopaxi struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Sargent pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Cotopaxi, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sargent won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Del Norte at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
