Holy Trinity is a perfect 3-0 against ITW David Speer Academy since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Tigers will host the Pride at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Holy Trinity's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Cristo Rey Jesuit with a sharp 27-0 win. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Elijah Mota made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mota was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Holy Trinity got a massive performance out of Noe Hernandez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Hernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Glorioso, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Holy Trinity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for ITW David Speer Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Golder on Wednesday as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The Pride haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Holy Trinity is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for ITW David Speer Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
