If the Peyton Panthers were feeling good off their 61-41 takedown of the Lotus School For Excellence Meteors on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Peyton lost to Banning Lewis Academy on the road by a decisive 59-45 margin on Thursday. Peyton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Banning Lewis Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryce Love, who scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Gatti, who scored 17 points.
Banning Lewis Academy can attribute much of their success to Joseph Bjegovich, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds. Bjegovich continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyson Robertson, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Peyton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Banning Lewis Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peyton will face off against Swallows Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Banning Lewis Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Colorado Springs School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
