Last Friday, things could have been worse for Land O' Lakes, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 77-62 loss to Wesley Chapel. While losing is never fun, Land O' Lakes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Wesley Chapel is ranked 102nd).
Defeat or not, Land O' Lakes got some senior leadership from Jordan Massie who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and Max Moore who scored 15 points. That was a full 33.9% of Land O' Lakes' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Mathan, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mitchell's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They blew past River Ridge 77-47 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Mitchell has managed all season.
Land O' Lakes has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Mitchell, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Land O' Lakes and Mitchell were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but Land O' Lakes came up empty-handed after a 83-82 loss. Can Land O' Lakes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
