The North Gaston Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the A.C. Reynolds Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Gaston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while A.C. Reynolds is ranked 48th).
Last Friday, North Gaston was the victim of a rough 35-14 loss at the hands of South Point.
The losing side was boosted by Jurnee Lattimore, who picked up 217 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Isaiah Ewing was another key contributor, throwing for 235 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, A.C. Reynolds had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 58-14 victory over McDowell. Considering A.C. Reynolds has won five games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
A.C. Reynolds got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Wesley Rumbough out in front who picked up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Tyvon Patterson was in the mix as well, providing A.C. Reynolds with two touchdowns.
South Point's win bumped their season record to 6-4 while North Gaston's defeat dropped theirs to 5-5.
