The Poly Engineers will head out on the road to face off against the Forest Park Foresters at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Poly had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They managed a 64-59 victory over Patterson. Given Poly's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Patterson is ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poly to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marcus Matthews, who scored 16 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Matthews has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Gaymon II, who scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Forest Park took their game on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 75-39 victory over Kenwood. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Forest Park.
Poly's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Forest Park, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Everything came up roses for Poly against Forest Park in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 73-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poly since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
