National Christian Academy may have come out ahead in their last contest, but they shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. They hope to keep the momentum going despite having enjoyed some extra time before their next matchup against Archbishop Carroll at 2:30 PM on Saturday. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against National Christian Academy, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
National Christian Academy had to kick off their season on the road two weeks ago, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor with a 40-8 margin. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (34) and coasted on those for the victory.
Meanwhile, there's no need to mince words: Archbishop Carroll lost to Bullis last week, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 8-44. The state rankings had actually given Archbishop Carroll a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
National Christian Academy's win lifted them to 1-0 while Archbishop Carroll's defeat dropped them down to 1-1. In National Christian Academy's win, junior Jalen Lea passed for 223 yards and 3 touchdowns and senior Jason Mackall rushed for 138 yards and 1 touchdown. We'll see if Archbishop Carroll have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
