It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Woodbury ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Mounds View Mustangs 5-4. Woodbury got a great performance from Alex Kirchoff as he tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Kirchoff has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Tyler LaMott was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Dittrich, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Woodbury's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4. As for Mounds View, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.
