The Academy had won two straight games and Trey Boychuk did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Academy Wildcats enjoyed a cozy 67-53 victory over the Arrupe Jesuit Generals thanks in part to Boychuk, who went 9-for-20 on his way to 24 points along with seven steals and six assists. The game was his fifth in a row with at least 19 points.
The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Hernandez, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds. The Academy is 4-1 when Hernandez posts eight or more boards, but 6-9 otherwise.
Arrupe Jesuit lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mario Cabrera, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Manuel Loya, who went 5-for-12 en route to 14 points.
The win got The Academy back to even at 10-10. As for Arrupe Jesuit, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.
The Academy has already played their next contest, a 64-63 victory against Eagle Ridge Academy on the 20th.
