The Clarke Central Gladiators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. Their rough 80-59 defeat to Arabia Mountain might stick with them for a while. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (57), Clarke Central still had to take the loss.
Arabia Mountain was led to victory by Julian Shanks and Joseph Smith. Shanks scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Smith scored 21 points along with two steals. Shanks hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaden Ward, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Clarke Central's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Arabia Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarke Central will take on Winder-Barrow at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Winder-Barrow presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Clarke Central in Georgia (Winder-Barrow is ranked 40th, while Clarke Central is ranked 246th). As for Arabia Mountain, they will be playing at home against Chamblee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chamblee has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 259 points over their last four contests.
