The Barren County Trojans will head out to challenge the South Warren Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Barren County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Barren County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Taylor County, who was ranked 13th at the time (Barren County was ranked 15th). The Trojans were the clear victors by a 16-8 margin over the Cardinals on Wednesday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Barren County got a great performance from Landon Uhles as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Uhles has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gavin Coffey was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Axel Dysholm, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, South Warren won against Adair County on Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Spartans came out on top against Logan County by a score of 6-2. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.
Griffin Rardin was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Ethan Reynolds was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
South Warren was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Logan County only posted a batting average of .080.
Barren County is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for South Warren, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-7.
Barren County suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to South Warren in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
