Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, the Christopher Cougars couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They had to suffer through a rough 28-0 loss at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, Christopher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Soquel is ranked 100th).
Soquel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Mccord led the charge by rushing for 67 yards and a touchdown. Mccord was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Braylon Noble also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Soquel's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Justice Grauel tebong and Cade Petersen who racked up four sacks between them.
Christopher's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Soquel, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Christopher does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Soquel will be playing at home against Casa Roble at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Casa Roble is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
