The Emery Spartans entered their tilt with the Delta Rabbits with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Emery put the hurt on Delta with a sharp 62-39 win on Wednesday. Considering Emery has won five contests by more than 22 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Justice led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. The game was Justice's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zack Tuttle, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Delta lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cai Henderson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Henderson scored a full 30.8% of Delta's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Marcus Chase was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Emery's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.8 points per game. As for Delta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Emery will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Uintah at 5:00 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Uintah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Saturday. Delta will finish 2023 at home by hosting Manti at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. One thing working in Manti's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
