There's no place like home for Carterville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They strolled past the Goreville Blackcats with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 49-34. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 49-46 victory the Blackcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Carterville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adie Sykes, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. Kennedy Diel also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Carterville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Goreville's loss came despite strong showings from Emily Kacinski and Lydia Kwiatkowski. Kacinski almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards, while Kwiatkowski had 14 points and six rebounds. What's more, Kwiatkowski also posted a 40% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2023.

Carterville's record is now 10-19. As for Goreville, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-23.

Carterville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Goreville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-21 defeat against Christopher on the 13th.
