Basketball Recap: Kaiya Dodson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ballantyne Ridge over Sun Valley

After flying high against Central last Wednesday, Ballantyne Ridge came back down to earth. The Ballantyne Ridge Wolves took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sun Valley Spartans on Friday.

Ballantyne Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaiya Dodson, who posted 15 points along with six boards and three steals. Dodson's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nataliyah Agbewali, who earned six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Ballantyne Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Ballantyne Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Sun Valley, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ballantyne Ridge and Myers Park will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ballantyne Ridge is facing Myers Park at the right time seeing as Myers Park is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Sun Valley will take on Forest Hills in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
