The Joliet West Tigers lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Thursday was a bit more commanding. Their tough 74-49 defeat to Romeoville might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Joliet West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Spartans are ranked 39th).
Despite the loss, Joliet West still got an impressive performance from Makayla Chism, who scored 29 points. Chism continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Alaya Redditt was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Joliet West are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-12. As for Romeoville, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 24-3.
Joliet West will be playing at home against the Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Romeoville, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
