The McKeel Academy Wildcats suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 43-22 loss at the hands of George Jenkins. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McKeel Academy has scored all season.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Skyelar Smith, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Malayna Sheffield, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Taylor Gibson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds for George Jenkins. Gibson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marykate Benham, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
McKeel Academy's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 9-9. As for George Jenkins, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKeel Academy will take on Discovery at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for George Jenkins, George Jenkins and Bartow will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
