The Blue Ridge Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Montrose Meteors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Blue Ridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Elk Lake on Friday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 8-1.
Meanwhile, Montrose gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Forest City. The result was nothing new for the Meteors, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Jocelyn Traver was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Traver was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Violet Conning, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was MycKenna Kublo, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Montrose has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Blue Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Montrose struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Blue Ridge might still be hurting after the 21-3 loss they got from Montrose in their previous matchup on April 4th. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
