Basketball Recap: Palo Verde Valley Takes a Loss

Palo Verde Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 67-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-59 on December 9th.

When it comes to explaining why Palo Verde Valley lost, don't look at Zaraivion Crowe. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. Crowe is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last seven games he's played. Yasias Green was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Palo Verde Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coachella Valley only posted three assists.

It was another big night for Israel Garcia, who went 9 of 17 from beyond the arc on his way to 40 points for Coachella Valley. With that strong performance, Garcia is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Franky Aguirre, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points and six steals.

Palo Verde Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Coachella Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Palo Verde Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-37 win against Xavier Prep on the 27th. As for Coachella Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-58 loss against Buena on the 26th.
