After losing to the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles the last time they met, the Northwest Christian Crusaders decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Northwest Christian blew past Bourgade Catholic 53-18 at home. That looming 53-18 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Northwest Christian yet this season.
Katelyn Best continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Northwest Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylie Seifried, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Bourgade Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Juliet Botiller, who scored ten points along with four steals. The matchup was Botiller's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Vanessa Arismendez was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Bourgade Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Northwest Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Bourgade Catholic, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 5-9.
Northwest Christian will head out on the road to face off against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Scottsdale Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Northwest Christian is ranked 87th). As for Bourgade Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Camp Verde at 5:30 p.m.
