ASU Prep Poly will head out on the road to face off against the El Dorado Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Monday, ASU Prep Poly came up short against Ridgeline Academy and fell 63-55. While losing is never fun, ASU Prep Poly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Ridgeline Academy is ranked 19th).
Meanwhile, El Dorado had just enough and edged Mission Heights Prep out 68-65 on Thursday.
El Dorado's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mikai Phipps, who scored 20 points along with four steals, and Chris Zaragoza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Phipps has scored at least 25% of El Dorado's points. Another player making a difference was Michael Carbajal, who scored four points along with three steals.
ASU Prep Poly's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for El Dorado, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
