Even though the Harding Presidents scored an imposing 70 points on Monday, the Wilby Wildcats still came out on top. Wilby walked away with an 82-70 victory over the Presidents.
When it comes to explaining why Harding lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamaar Wright Jr.. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wright Jr. has scored all season. Craig Chandler was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Wilby is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Harding, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilby won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Watertown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Wildcats are ranked 50th). As for Harding, they will head out on the road to face off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
