Northview is a perfect 9-0 against Greencastle since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Tiger Cubs at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northview comes in on four and Greencastle on 11.
Northview proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Cloverdale 4-2.
Maggie Krause made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Northview got a great performance from Leven Godsey as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
Krause wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Thompson has posted since back in April of 2025.
While Greencastle didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Owen Valley a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. The two-run effort marked the Tiger Cubs' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The result came thanks to Ali Hassler's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks.
Northview's record is now 8-3. As for Greencastle, their record now sits at 11-0.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Northview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Greencastle struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northview came out on top in a nail-biter against Greencastle when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
