DeKalb is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Columbia City is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Barons will welcome the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
DeKalb's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Woodlan as they made off with a 14-0 win. The Barons haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Bo Minehart made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Drake Hall was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Graden Pepple was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbia City). They blew past Northfield 19-3 on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.
Colton Schroeder looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Logan Frey was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lukus Schmitt, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Columbia City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northfield only managed four hits.
Columbia City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for DeKalb, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. DeKalb has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .525. However, it's not like Columbia City struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
DeKalb came up short against Columbia City in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 7-3. Will the Barons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
