The Palmer Ridge Bears posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Pueblo County out 45-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Palmer Ridge also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Jimmer Weir continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Kraft, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Pueblo County still got an impressive performance from Johnathan Gonzales, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Mauro, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Palmer Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Pueblo County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmer Ridge will take on Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Palmer Ridge likes a good challenge. As for Pueblo County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pueblo Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Pueblo Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Friday.
