After flying high against the Hylton Bulldogs last Tuesday, the Freedom Eagles came back down to earth. Freedom was dealt a 84-42 loss at the hands of Osbourn Park on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Freedom in their matchups with Osbourn Park: they've now lost four in a row.
Freedom's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keilana Johnson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Keilani Johnson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals and two blocks.
Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Osbourn Park, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Freedom will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodbridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodbridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Freedom likes a good challenge. As for Osbourn Park, Osbourn Park and Osbourn will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing isn't great for Osbourn: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Osbourn Park has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
