The Gretna East Griffins waltzed into their matchup  on Tuesday with four straight wins  but they left with five. They walked away with  a   58-48  win over Waverly. The  win was all the more spectacular given Gretna East's disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings  (they are ranked 52nd, while the Vikings are ranked tenth).
 Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Parker Christiansen, who  scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was  Annie Harms, who  scored ten points.
 Gretna East pushed their record up to 11-5 with that  victory, which was their third straight  at home. As for Waverly, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
 Gretna East will be playing in front of their home fans against the Silver Hawks at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday. As for Waverly, they will head out on the road to  square off against  the Cavaliers on Thursday.
