The Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They fell to Overbrook 60-55. While losing is never fun, Maritime Academy Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 655th, while the Panthers are ranked 235th).
Despite the loss, Maritime Academy Charter still got an impressive performance from Andy Figueroa, who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Figueroa has scored all season. Jaseer Mann was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Maritime Academy Charter struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Overbrook pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Omar Davis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Overbrook, dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nashawn Jones, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
Maritime Academy Charter's loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Overbrook, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Maritime Academy Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Overbrook will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the at 4:15 p.m.
