After eight games on the road, Norrix is heading back home. They will take on the Mattawan Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Norrix didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Portage Northern, but they still walked away with a 47-43 win.
Meanwhile, Mattawan had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They secured a 50-46 W over Central.
It was another big night for Delaney Elsmore, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mattawan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Hinkley, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The win got Norrix back to even at 5-5. As for Mattawan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Norrix came out on top in a nail-biter against Mattawan in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 40-38. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Elsmore, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.
