The Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pacifica Christian/Orange County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Capistrano Valley Christian has scored all season.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cetin Seles, who scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals. Benjamin Makelela was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 16 rebounds and five blocks.
Pacifica Christian/Orange County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Stewart out in front who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Alex Stewart, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Capistrano Valley Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Pacifica Christian/Orange County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-8.
Capistrano Valley Christian will take on La Salle at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. La Salle is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.1 points per game. Pacifica Christian/Orange County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th. Central Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pacifica Christian/Orange County in their respective states (Central Catholic is ranked first in Oregon, while Pacifica Christian/Orange County is ranked 94th in California).
