After a string of nine wins, the Cactus Cobras's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 71-61 to Deer Valley. Cactus was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Deer Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Cobras players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Hutton, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Hutton has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradey Henige, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Cactus' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3. As for Deer Valley, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.
Cactus will take on Agua Fria at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Agua Fria will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Cactus is ranked 32nd). As for Deer Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Goldwater at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
