Baseball Game Preview: Aldine Mustangs vs. Nimitz Cougars

Aldine has gone a perfect 10-0 against Nimitz recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Aldine Mustangs will face off against the Nimitz Cougars at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aldine has eight straight victories, Nimitz has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Aldine's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Nimitz as Aldine made off with a 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Raul Careaga made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Velez, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Carmelo Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Aldine's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Nimitz, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
