Highland Park hasn't had much luck against Wakeland recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Scots will head out to face off against the Wolverines at 6:45 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Highland Park came out on top against Turner on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Scots blew past the Lions 13-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Scots needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Cecilia Knutson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Knutson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

| 03/18/26 vs Newman Smith | 3 |

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maryn Muntz, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Hyde, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Highland Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wakeland). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Newman Smith a 21-0 shutout on Friday. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Lexi Campos looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lauren McIllwain was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Maggie Drake was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs.
Highland Park's record is now 14-8. As for Wakeland, their record now sits at 20-5-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Highland Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .398. However, it's not like Wakeland struggles in that department as they've averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Highland Park might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from Wakeland when the teams last played back in March. Can the Scots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
