The Fulshear Chargers will face off against the Alief Elsik Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fulshear is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
Fulshear's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Alief Hastings 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ava Callahan was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Galaviz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Callahan wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Fulshear lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Alief Elsik's offense. They lost 15-0 to George Ranch on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost seven in a row.
Alief Elsik saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angela Roldan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Fulshear pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Alief Elsik, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fulshear has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like Alief Elsik struggles in that department as they've averaged .551. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Fulshear's way against Alief Elsik in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Fulshear made off with a 16-0 victory. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
