Belle Vernon has won three straight games at home, while West Mifflin has won three straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Leopards will welcome the Titans at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Belle Vernon 2.9, West Mifflin 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
West Mifflin's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Belle Vernon hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Leopards' pitcher stepped up to hand Yough a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Leopards have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Belle Vernon got a great performance from Braden Andrews as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Cole Matusik was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Bergman, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Belle Vernon hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, West Mifflin unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Elizabeth Forward by a score of 8-7.
West Mifflin also got a good showing from Justin Dillon, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Jayvon Thompson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Chase Maggio, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Belle Vernon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for West Mifflin, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 14-4.
Both Belle Vernon and West Mifflin just can't seem to miss. The Leopards have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like West Mifflin struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Belle Vernon came up short against West Mifflin in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, falling 7-3. Will the Leopards have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
